St Barnabas Dalston, London
Evening of presentations from artists within the Morphe network.
Book at Eventbrite here.
You are warmly invited to join us for our next Make Good event in London. This will be an evening of three twenty minute presentations by artists from the Morphē network: Chris Miller, Uli Jaeger and Keisha Tonte Njoku (Tonte Dance). This will be a great opportunity to meet other artists and hear first hand about their work and practice. Everyone is welcome, whether you have been coming to Morphē for years or have never been before.
There will be a hot meal provided from 7-7.30pm. The talks will run from 7.30-9pm with time for discussion.
Chris Miller's autobiographical paintings are often versions of famous paintings, but with himself as the subject. His work often uses the visual language of the art of the past to express his condition – replacing famous images with images of his disabled body. He has studied on the MA in Health Humanities at University College London and has exhibited and spoken widely. Including at the South Bank Gallery, Enclave Gallery Deptford, the Royal Academy, the Science Museum, the Wellcome Collection, the Tate Gallery and the Turner Contemporary Gallery Margate.
Uli Jaeger is a visual artist based in Kent/UK. Working with sculpture and printmaking her work explores the liminal spaces where art and play meet within the context of the everyday. She graduated from the University for the Creative Arts (UCA) in Canterbury with a BA (Hons) Fine Art in 2018. Jaeger is a studio holder at Resort in Margate, Kent (UK), a member of ArtCan (UK) and the Haller Akademie der Künste (Germany).
Keisha Tonte Njoku (Tonte Dance) has a vision to see communities health restored and wounds healed through Christian urban dance. She is a IDTA qualified dance teacher, workshop facilitator and project manager with over 22+ years’ experience in community dance internationally. Keisha began her dance journey with training in gymnastics, ballet, tap, street dance, and continued to diversify at Irie! Dance Theatre with traditional African, Caribbean, Contemporary and other urban styles. She has more recently began exploring her own choreographic works and is currently focusing on developing her skills in performance and screen dance production.
