Positioning Statement

Morphē Position Statement on membership, employment and partnership with other organisations

Morphē is a Christian charity that supports early career arts professionals by encouraging critical engagement between Christian faith and contemporary art. It is rooted in the Christian faith as articulated in the Nicene Creed and united around a high view of Scripture. While employees are expected to be committed Christians, Morphē’s membership is open to people of all faiths or none.

Morphē acknowledges that faithful Christians can interpret the Bible differently and have come to different positions on important social, cultural, political and life-style issues. It notes that it is especially the latter - and within that category especially the question of same sex unions - that have led to major divisions in the church.

Morphē seeks to resist the toxic polarities that some of these divisions have created and is open to working with and employing fellow believers holding a variety of views on this and other controversial issues. In doing so it seeks to create a safe meeting space for creatives where they may engage in the type of conversations they may not be able to have either in the world of art or in their church.

Morphē remains focussed on the main reason for its existence as an organisation as expressed in its vision statement and core values: www.morphearts.org
